Spring Cycle Stats?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Ok so I know the spring cycle isn't a mtb ride but I can't seem to find anything on Google about it. Plus I rode the 50 km course on my mt unicycle with big knobby tire so kinda related.

Just wondering if anyone else here road it and of they tracked it with a GPS app? I did and it said it was 58km long so wondering if my app is wrong or maybe it was from the motion of my leg as it was in my pocket. Please post your stats here if you have them. Also curious about elevation. Thanks!

hi guys,
hope you don't mind a bit of roadie content here... after the maxxis and the conti phase i'm currently going through a schwalbe phase.
this means rocket ron, racing ralph tubeless on the MTB and ultremos on the road bike commuter.
been trying out the ultremo DD as well as the ZX. the DD has now got about 4000km (rear) and has completely worn through the protective layer to the point where i managed to have 3 flats on the way home. that tyre has served me well with no flats in 3900km but it will go no further.

Race across america

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey guys,

I'm looking onto RAAW - Race across America as a potential race for 2014 in a team of 4. At the moment I'm scared by the overall cost and the organisation of a support crew, let alone the 3000+ miles involved.

Right now I've nothing decided or planned, I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible to make an informed decision on it. Has anybody raced it or know someone who has. I have so many questions to ask. Or is there anybody who has been involved in the endurance cycling scene.

Why disc brakes rock on commuter bikes

On the way to work yesterday morning via Allambie Road, at one roundabout I was a bit slow on the uptake - didn't see a car that was about to enter until it started moving.

I was in the big ring and little cog picking up speed rapidly when they started to stick their nose out, and I had one of those moments that begins with a sharp intake of breath, and time slows down.

Here's why I love Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and fat tyres.

Can anyone recommend a wheel-set that will last more than one year, suitable for a 90-100kg rider who commutes/trains/races about 200k/wk?

Every bloody time... So I just upgraded my Garmin firmware to v3, and now the bloody thing thinks it's moving all the time. Picking up the rotation of the earth, are we?

Anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, is there a fix other than rolling back the firmware to v2.8?

thanks

Small Cuts in Road Tyres

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

What's the best way to deal with small cuts in road tyres? Is it supaglue? I run tubeless fusion tyres and get small cuts. I just pulled a piece of glass out which seams quite deep but still holding air.

Cheers

While many were watching the Olympics last week, Paceline HQ was (also) glued to the tweets and footage from the National Road Series Tour of Gippsland. See http://www.cyclingtips.com.au/2012/08/2012-tour-... for a great pictorial review of this hard fought 8 stage race.

Paceline Ambassador, and resident superman on a bike, Will Walker has demonstrated it is possible to recover from a heart arrhythmia. Here is his inspirational story, so far.
