I have always thought that road bikers where miss informed about bike riding thinking that what they were doing was a better idea than getting some suspension and hitting the trails.

After borrowing a mates road bike for the Sydney to Gong and doing some trainning on it leading up to the Gong ride, i was amazed with the strenght i gained on the bike is a short amount of time. I also really enjoyed the speed and riding in a pack.

Saturday Scum?

Anyone keen for some road riding this Saturday? Open to suggestions as to where.

Think I'm starting to like this scumming too much, 150km for the weekend. I better do a few laps of the Dam one night this week.

PS. How do I post a MotionBased profile?

Cheers,
Jay

The force from the dark side is just getting too strong. I have tried to resist for so long but I couldn't take it any more. Last weekend I took a couple for a test and I now need help Eye-wink.

I have never ridden road bikes before and have no idea on what ones to stay away from etc. My budget is about $2,500 for the bike so this will determine the spec and the two below are what I have come up with so far. I am looking for a more relaxed geometry so if there are other models I should look at please tell.

PS. I am telling myself this is just for when the trails are too wet to ride.

Road ride on Sunday anyone?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I am wanting to headout on Sunday morning for a long road ride of +150km. I want to put a few hills in there to keep me honest. Anyone not going to be at the worlds keen to join me?
At the moment i dont really have a plan on where I would go.
Just putting the feelers out there....

Long Road ride

I'm considering a road ride to Woollongong and back from Penrith via Narellan and wondered if anyone else was keen? This weekend possibly I could meet up with you at Narellan if a shorter ride is preferable, from Penrith it's about 210km return. Another option would be via the M7. Going down Mt.Ousley is great fun hitting speeds of just over 80kmh for about 6km and I return up Mt. Keira for safety and it's a nicer uphill ride. It would be a steady training pace with few stops and lunch in the Gong.

OK, apologies for the non-MTB post but here goes...

Being spoiled by a toobless MTB setup I feel like I'm getting far too many punctures on my fixie/roadie commute, probably about 2 a week at this stage.

I'm running 700*23 mid priced Conti tyres, with average quality toobs, inflated to the pressure specified on the sidewall, 120 PSI.

When I don't have punctures they're magic, roll like a very rolly thingo and more than grippy enough, but I can't help feeling I'm getting too many flats.
