Where to buy a BH G5?

Does anyone know where I could buy a BH G5 in the Sydney area? There doesn't seem to be an importer that I could find.

Safer Cycling Study in NSW

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi All,

There was coverage of this study a couple of days ago on the ABC: http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2011/03/31/3... The article encourages a novel idea of mutual respect between pedestrians, cyclists, motor vehicle drivers and bus drivers.

The Safer Cycling Study hopes to learn about when, where and why people cycle, and the risks, hazards, near misses and crashes that people experience while cycling. There is not enough information about cyclists and these issues in NSW.

They need at least 2000 people who cycle. You are eligible if you are:

- 18 yrs or older

Tour de Cure

So... who's riding in this year's Tour de Cure charity event?

One (I assume there will be more than one) of the support vehicles was parked at the Optus office in Macquarie Park today so took a few snaps.

Now... if you are doing the event... no riding in this, OK? Eye-wink

Road Bike Gearing

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I'm curious to hear what gear ratio people run front and back on their road bike. Mine came as a compact one which is 34/50 crankset and 11-25 cassette. The gear on the 11-25 cassette are 11,12,13,14,15,17,19,21,23,25.
Cheers

SwissStop Green Pads?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

It's getting near time for a pad change on my Campag brakes but instead of replacing with the stock alloy rim Campag blocks (which seem to work well enough) I was also considering the SwissStop Green High Performance pads.
There seems to be little difference in price and they appear to get good reviews.

Anyone tried them and care to comment?

Are their commuting groups that bike from Hornsby to city daily?

I am a new member and I would like to tag on to a group of bike commuters from Hornsby to city weekdays? can anyone help?

New Road Bike

Heya, looking at a road bike to pick up the miles etc, seen a Wilier Izoard XP. How would you rate Wilier?

Galston Saturday ???

Hey nobmobers,

Just putting it out there.....

Anyone interested in a road ride Saturday around Galston Gorge?

Not cranking a fast pace...but rather a steady social pace that involves a caffeine hit and covers around 60km ?

there...now you can think about it for the week Smiling

Ventoux Master

Well, it's not really an event (or is it?) but had to share this...

http://www.montventouxwebcam.com/masters.html

Basically, ride up Mt Ventoux as may times as you can in 24 hours. At over 1300m vertical a pop. Of course you all know this climb, but here's a comparison against the rather nasty Cottage Point struggle...

Ouch!

Note the record is 11 ascents... that's almost 15,000m vertical. Ouch, ouch, ouch! Eye-wink

Contador could be "stripped of his last win" at the Tour

Oh dear...

http://www.sbs.com.au/cyclingcentral/news/20282/...

The disciplinary committee of the Spanish Cycling Federation (REFC) is to announce its decision on Thursday, and the rider will have 10 days to appeal, the sports daily Marca reported.

"All indications are that the sanction proposed by the committee will be one year, so he will be stripped of his last win" at the Tour de France in July.

Another sports newspaper, AS, said Contador "could suffer a year's suspension".

Northern Beaches City bound commuter hazard warning

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Just a word of caution for all you commuters heading from the beaches tomorrow. This corner is really greasy from a combination of oil dropped by cars and natural tree/leaf oils at the moment. I came off in damp conditions on Friday morning and broke my shoulder blade. Approach with caution.

Take care y'all
Phil

Anyone want a gentle Sunday at West Head?

Ongoing recovery from injury...

I was meant to go out this morning to do a slow out and back along West Head road but it didn't happen. Does anyone want to meet tomorrow for a very gentle trundle there? 1 hour to 1h30m tops.

Did this last weekend is just over an hour starting from the parking area by Duck Holes. To get just a little bit more time might ride up to the corner by Coal and Candle after doing West Head if feeling good.

Shout out if a slow/short ride sounds appealing to you Smiling

Technical question

Hi,

I need to purchase a Shimano Ultegra 10-speed casette for my new Zipp wheels and was wondering if anyone knew what the difference is between the $62 and $74.98 one on CRC.

Here is the link:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?M...

What do those numbers in the "option" column mean?

Thanks in advance

Galston Gorge Sat morn?

Any interest in a Galston gorge ride ?

- I posted a suggestions for this saturday...but realised the silly season has me already booked.

Any interest for Sunday 5th? approx 3 hours around Galston Gorge/old pacific hwy and Pie in the sky?

I am not the fastest kid on a bike, but this is such a great area for this time of year.
thoughts welcome.

Muppets who don't read signs

This morning at Manly Vale I went for a casual ride up to the public school to see whether there were any signs at the start of the trail. After the guy I bumped into at the entrance to 19th Hole yesterday said he saw no sign, I was curious.

Sure enough, there it was. As expected.

Anti Bike Theft Tech

Apparently Conrad is the Deutsche equivalent of Dick Smith Electronics.

Here's one of their ads:

It says:

Wheelset

Looking to upgrade the entry level Shimano wheelset on my road bike but have no idea what I should be looking at. I was keen on the Fulcrum Racing 5 as Fulcrum seems to be a good brand with a good reputation and the 5s hit my price point nicely. I read a few reviews that maybe they were not great if you were heavier (I am 96kg) so was looking to see if anyone has an opinion on these, anything else that they deem suitable or what I should be looking for when deciding. Thanks in advance.
