descent of mccarrs creek road
i am putting the call out there... what is the fastest known/recorded descent time of mccarrs creek road - starting at liberator general san martin drive (top end, not en route to west head) and finishing at mccarrs creek reserve? i'm not enticing suicide runs, just wondering.
the reason i'm posting this is i thought i was macking until i was overtaken!! haha

Dh challenges
Hey... just ride within your limits and don't ask this stuff
You note we have a few challenges for climbs, but DH only is a very bad idea. Not only is it very dangerous, but mostly involves speeding, which is illegal and we all know, one cannot encourage illegal activity in a forum.
Stick to the climbs please
Maybe
Lets get this straight...
A lap time board glorifying excessive speed down an extremely dangerous road, with a poor surface and with a history of frequent serious accidents mostly involving cyclists?
What kind of planet do you live on?
Maybe I should post some of the photo's of the results of this kind of idiocy. There are far too many accidents on this road, most of them involving cyclists. I am constantly amazed by the behaviour some find acceptable on this road - Flat out round blind corners on the wrong side of the road; or one large very well known local club who seem to believe they own the road frequently parking a large peleton of riders in the middle of the road, round the blind corner at the top of the hill. Just to mention two things I see almost every weekend.
Believe it or not there is not a single place in the road traffic act that says cyclists are immune from the law, and behaving like this does none of us any good.
descent of mcr
sorry to everyone if this came across as a stupid post. Did not want to start a hot lap list, i was just wondering. As mentioned not enticing suicide runs just felt i was going quick then was overtaken so.....and yes blind cornering and overtaking cars on the wrong side is stupid, i will end this thread now and pls no one post times as i don't want anyone to get injured timing. remember there is always someone quicker or crazier than yourself.
another note,
genuine question,
can a cyclist be booked for speeding i.e school zone or local traffic.? if so how are they identified? (cameras)(no rego or licence needed so how do they fine and take demerit points)
I would imagine
If you where blasting through a school zone and a cop'r was there he'd grab you and take down your name which I would assume in this day and age he could pull up in his fancy on board computer which would have your picture with it. If they can't do the fore mentioned, name address, and a court summons.
Speaking of McCars Creek Rd, I've been off the pushie for 5 months after a shoulder surgery and rode down it for the first time this afternoon and all I have to say is wow, I would have been more at home on a AM mtb, it's gotten bad in the last half year!
And grrrr to that riding group - I'm sure everyone has a story about them.

I don't we need to encourage crazy behavior but there's more fitness required than balls to get down there fast. At the end of the day everyone needs to ride within their limits and use their own judgement
Don't forget cars too
Some cyclists often get me shaking my head but what makes me scream out expecting a head-on is car drivers overtaking bikes on blind corners. I see this all the time and i dread the day their luck runs out and I see it first hand. Its madness for a few seconds extra waiting until its clear.
