Safe commute from terrey hills to st Leonard's

Hi all,
Thinking about riding to work 1-2 days per week.
Was hoping for some suggestions of a safe route between terrey hills and st Leonard's.
Thanks.

The two shortest ways from Terrey Hills to St Leonards are:

The stupid way via Roseville Bridge. 20.4km. You'd be mental to ride on the road up either side of here. When coming from the North you have to take the off-ramp before the bridge, loop under and back up the other side then turn back on yourself:

Or the slightly less stupid way via the Spit. 24.0km:

Look at the second ride there and see how I started. That's probably the best way from the Spit to St Leonards but I always start that way and go home directly via Ourimbah Rd.

You can't avoid Mona Vale Road or Forest Way, but they have bike lanes (well - if you can call that thing along Forest Way a bike lane) so aren't so bad.
