Just got my first proper road bike, and thought I'd be used to it enough by then to do a longer style ride, so doing the usual 44? km loop through the two gorges.

If you're keen, see you there!

Continuing my slow (groan) but going OK-ish recovery (yay!) am going to try and ride the two gorges only from Saturday, starting at Hornsby.

Easy pace, but still should only take couple of hours. Of course those keen for more can easily turn left and head down to PITS or beyond.

The route will be 41.7km:

Well, alegidly it's not going to be raining on Saturday (yeah - right!) so given the trails are soaked (and anyhow, I still can't ride off road) plan a little scum.

Terrey Hills Shops -> end of West Head Road return. Throwing in Akuna Bay (anti-clockwise) if people feel like it.

I'm not in any kind of form so this will be super slow.

My first road ride in ages, but I've just cleaned up my MTB after adventures and don't want to ride the soaked up trails, so decided to do a road ride instead - classic Galston gorge before the traffic increases, through Arcadia, down to Berowra Waters, across the ferry, back up the other side and back again through the Hwy.

As discussed, this will be a slow paced ride suitable for those getting into road biking. Although a medium level of fitness is required as the route has 2 climbs of 200m vertical each plus the usual undulations.

The route will be along Pacific Highway, down through Galston Gorge and out the other side, over to Berowra waters to catch the ferry (only takes couple minutes) then up from there back to the Pacific Highway. At this point we can decide as a group, and how people are feeling what to do. The options will be:

It was great to get out on the dirt last weekend but had to visit the physio on Monday as a result... so sticking to the road a while longer.

Seems all I'm allowed is a gentle loop of West Head & Akuna Bay, so that will have to do.

Come along, it'll be fun! Laughing out loud

No side trips to Cottage Point - promise! Eye-wink

Note time change to 8:30!

Ok whos up for a group road ride?

Thinking the staple with variations

Meet at Hornsby 8.30am (to give those not local time to travel at a reasonable hour) at the Church opposite the locksmith on the Pacific Highway at Hornsby.

Tentative plan from previous discussions is Hornsby - Pac Hwy - Bobbo - Old Pac Hwy - (Calga possibly) - Brooklyn - Pie Stop - Berowra - Galston back. Obviously this will be subject to scrutiny on the day if other options come up whilst on the road.

All are welcome.

Hope to see you all there.

Sounds easy hey Eye-wink Maybe not at approx 265km.
Expect 10hrs in the saddle and approx 2-3 hrs stopping to eat.
If you havent done a long ride of atleat 150km this is not the ride for you. Ofcourse you can jump on the train at Wollongong if you wish, promise we wont call you SOFT Eye-wink
